The challenge

folk is a CRM designed for modern teams looking for a flexible and collaborative way to manage professional relationships.

Based in Europe, the business had an opportunity to increase organic acquisition through search, but needed a more structured approach to identifying high-intent topics, producing content at scale and converting search traffic into product sign-ups.

The challenge was not simply to increase website traffic. It was to build an organic growth system that connected customer search behaviour with relevant content, product discovery and measurable revenue outcomes.

The strategy also needed to make effective use of AI without diluting folk’s distinctive tone of voice or compromising editorial quality.

My role

I developed and implemented an SEO-led content strategy designed to increase folk’s organic visibility, improve conversion and establish a more scalable approach to content production.

My role combined strategic planning, editorial development, AI workflow design, content optimisation and performance analysis.

The work included:

  • Reviewing existing search performance and content opportunities.

  • Identifying high-intent keywords and customer questions.

  • Developing an SEO content strategy aligned with product use cases.

  • Creating AI-assisted research and editorial workflows.

  • Protecting folk’s tone of voice through structured human review.

  • Optimising articles and landing pages for search and conversion.

  • Repurposing high-performing social content into search-led resources.

  • Distributing content through relevant professional and technology communities.

  • Tracking sign-ups and attributed revenue from organic search.

  • Refining content based on traffic, conversion and revenue performance.

The approach

1. Connecting search demand with product use cases

The first priority was to identify the topics most closely connected to folk’s target users and the problems its CRM helped them solve.

Rather than pursuing traffic volume alone, I focused on search opportunities that demonstrated practical intent and could naturally lead users towards relevant product use cases.

This included content addressing relationship management, networking, contact organisation, CRM workflows and the tools used by modern teams.

By aligning search demand with genuine customer needs, the strategy created a stronger connection between organic discovery and product adoption.

2. Building AI-assisted editorial workflows

AI was used to improve the efficiency of research, content structuring and production, but it was not treated as a replacement for strategic or editorial judgement.

I developed workflows that supported:

  • Search and topic research.

  • Content briefs and article structures.

  • Analysis of user questions and search intent.

  • Draft development and content expansion.

  • Repurposing existing insights into new formats.

  • Updating and optimising existing articles.

Each asset was reviewed and refined to retain folk’s tone of voice, ensure accuracy and add meaningful value beyond generic search content.

This made it possible to increase content output while protecting brand quality and consistency.

3. Creating content designed to convert

The work extended beyond keyword optimisation.

Each article and landing page needed to provide a clear route from the user’s search query to a relevant next step with folk.

I strengthened the connection between editorial content and product acquisition by considering:

  • The intent behind each search.

  • The most relevant folk feature or use case.

  • Calls to action and product signposting.

  • Internal linking between related resources.

  • Landing-page structure and clarity.

  • Opportunities to move readers from education to product exploration.

This helped turn organic traffic into a measurable acquisition channel rather than treating SEO as a visibility exercise alone.

4. Optimising performance across the content portfolio

Content performance was fragmented across different articles and landing pages, making it important to understand which topics were driving visibility, sign-ups and revenue.

I used search and conversion data to identify:

  • Content gaining impressions but underperforming on clicks.

  • Pages attracting traffic but not generating sign-ups.

  • High-converting resources that could be expanded or replicated.

  • Search themes with stronger product relevance.

  • Existing content that could be refreshed instead of replaced.

The strategy was then refined continuously, allowing effort to be directed towards the content with the greatest potential impact.

5. Extending content beyond search

The content strategy was designed to work across multiple channels rather than remaining confined to the blog.

I repurposed high-performing LinkedIn posts into more detailed search-led articles that addressed questions already resonating with folk’s community.

Key insights were also distributed across relevant online communities and technology platforms, helping folk participate in conversations where its target users were already seeking recommendations and advice.

I supported this further by acting as a folk ambassador within technology communities, answering relevant user questions and increasing awareness of the product through useful, contextual contributions.

The outcome

The strategy helped establish organic search as a measurable source of product acquisition and recurring revenue.

The results included:

  • 4,210 clicks from organic search.

  • More than 1.04 million search impressions.

  • 2,626 new sign-ups attributed to SEO.

  • $22,392 in created ARR from SEO-driven acquisition.

  • $4,596 in churned ARR, leaving the channel net positive.

  • Strong conversion performance from targeted landing pages and AI-assisted resources.

  • Greater visibility for high-intent product and customer topics.

  • A more scalable content-production system.

  • Stronger integration between SEO, product use cases and conversion.

  • Wider content distribution across LinkedIn and relevant professional communities.

The implementation

The work was delivered in stages to create an effective foundation before scaling production.

Month 1: Strategy and workflow development

  • Reviewed search performance and existing content.

  • Identified priority topics and high-intent opportunities.

  • Established the SEO roadmap.

  • Developed the AI-assisted editorial workflow.

  • Defined quality controls to preserve folk’s brand voice.

Months 2–4: Content creation and optimisation

  • Produced and optimised search-led articles and landing pages.

  • Connected content more closely with folk’s product use cases.

  • Strengthened internal linking and conversion routes.

  • Repurposed relevant social content into long-form resources.

  • Distributed insights across additional platforms and communities.

Month 6 onwards: Performance refinement

  • Monitored search visibility, sign-ups and attributed revenue.

  • Identified the strongest-converting topics and formats.

  • Updated underperforming pages.

  • Expanded content around proven search themes.

  • Refined the strategy using acquisition and revenue data.

Meaningful gains in traffic, product sign-ups and conversion were visible within six months.

The strategic impact

This project went beyond increasing search rankings or publishing a higher volume of articles.

It involved building an organic acquisition system that connected audience questions, search intent, editorial content and product conversion.

By combining SEO strategy, AI-assisted workflows, human editorial oversight and conversion optimisation, I helped folk turn content into a measurable source of sign-ups and recurring revenue. The resulting system gave the business a more scalable way to grow organic visibility while maintaining its brand voice and focusing investment on content that supported customer acquisition.
